Our Background
Indian civilisation is the most ancient and existing civilisation to date. Various scientific research techniques and approaches were invented and developed over thousands of years ranging from mathematics, basic science, metallurgy, agriculture, linguistics, astrology and astronomy, medicine, engineering, textile, spirituality, etc. Most of the knowledge originated by thorough analysis, experimentation, observation and in some cases ‘realisation’. None of the ancient scientists/sages of ancient India worried about fame, patents or monetary/worldly pleasures but focused for the benefit of mankind.
Due to multiple invasions over thousands of years, much of the generated vast knowledge has been lost. However, a wealth of knowledge got transferred by various means such as, Upanishads, Vedas, and other texts in the form of verses. Some of these verses (shlokas) have both literary and scientific meaning which are being extracted and applied to the modern world. The most recent evidence is that project team of Chandrayaan – 2 from ISRO had a technical discussion with Puri Shankaracharya to understand the technical aspects of Bhisma Prava about the dimensions of earth and moon and their mutual distance. Also involved in the discussion was the relationship and coherence between the four primary elements – earth, water, air and fire.
During the course of development of these science and technological aspects over thousands of years, specific tricks, shortcuts and approaches were defined which could be directly applied to the modern world. One of the notable and widely known topics is ‘Vedic Mathematics’ which could reduce the stress and psychological burden on students with improved accuracy.
The current approach at Gurukula Academy is to imbibe students with a holistic approach of education focusing on physical and mental wellbeing.
